Just had our 4th.Visit to this fabulous lodge. Our little bit of heaven. Location 10/10 quiet beauty all around, wildlife, pretty river to listen to. The lodge is always immaculate, every facility, warm cosy in cooler months cool open in the warm days. We love it here and the surrounding villages and towns are so inviting. We love it, thankyou

We really enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge. It was very clean, really well equipped and the location, next to the river and with views of the hills either side, was lovely. We spotted plenty of wildlife along the river and we will miss waking up to the sound of the flowing water each day! It makes a great base for walks in the local area, but also exploring other parts of the Shropshire, including places such as Ironbridge and Ludlow. Thanks for letting us stay - we hope to return at some point in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge last week. The lodge, set in a prime position overlooking the River Clun, is beautifully presented and maintained to a very high standard. The lodge is in a perfect location for walking and exploring and the site is very quiet and well maintained. The Crown Hotel didn't disappoint either - the food was delicious and the local beers were very reasonably priced - but as others have mentioned, booking is essential. The only slight disappointment for my husband was how overgrown the riverbanks were - they made fishing access and casting quite difficult and he had looked forward to spending a few hours in the water while the rest of the family relaxed on the verandah but that was just a minor thing and it didn't spoil our break at all.

This is our eighth visit to Ash Lodge.
We just love the beautiful, scenic, peaceful setting right next to the river Clun with uninterrupted views over the fields to the hills. A perfect place to sit and watch the wildlife, inside or out side on the deck.
The lodge is beautifully presented and is always maintained to a high standard. It has everything we need and more. Comfortable beds, big leather sofas, a lovely kitchen and dining area.
Shropshire is such an interesting county and the lodge is a perfect base to explore this lovely area.
Thank you David and Denise for sharing your lodge with us and others. See you again soon!

Thoroughly enjoyed our week-2nd time at Ash Lodge and 5th at Clun Valley Lodges, The site ticks all the boxes for us and Ash Lodge is the pick of the bunch for both location and quality of accommodation and there was no disappointment this year!
We always bring our bikes as the area is superb for cycling with lots of interesting routes and places to visit, although at our age the assistance of electricity is necessary to negotiate the hills! We have noticed that the original excellent bike storage facilities appear to have been permanently commandeered into storage for logs. Although we have been able use the site wardens workshop and mower store, for which we are very grateful, access and room for two electric bikes is not as good as the original facility
This a minor gripe and in no way detracted from our overall enjoyment of the holiday!

This is our 2nd stay at Ash Lodge, and again everything was perfect. Once you open the front door you feel at home, everything is so clean and fresh.
We enjoyed the panaramic views, watching the birds from the balcony, we were even visited by the sheep in the adjacent field, and to listen to the river running by the lodge was so relaxing.
If you are after a relaxing, quiet, get away from it all holiday, then this is the place for you.

"WOW", what a beautiful lodge, absolutely stunning, and it had everything you could of asked for. To sit on the sofa and just watch the river flowing by was so relaxing. The beds were so comfy, I had the best nights sleep. Lots of books, puzzles and games in the lodge should you need them.
We will definately be returning to Ash Lodge, a lovely place to be if you need to wind down and recharge your batteries.

Lovely stay in a peaceful and relaxing environment. The lodge had everything we needed, was well furnished and very quiet - just the tonic to relax and unwind. The location was remote but we weren’t far from lots of things to do, from Shrewsbury prison, Ludlow, and several National Trust properties. Hope to come back in the future and bring our friends.

Such a lovely, peaceful spot - sheep grazing in the field opposite, hay bales on the hills rising behind the lodge, the occasional glimpse of a kingfisher whisking down the river. The lodge was clean and comfortable, with the constant sound of the river in the background. Thank you for a very restful week.

Our third and probably final stay at Ash Lodge this year. As usual everything was perfect, the addition of cows in the field next door made my week!! Ash Lodge has become such a haven of peace and tranquillity for us to look forward to in our extremely stressful and busy lives, it's where we come together and spend time as a couple enjoying each others company without incessant phones and interruptions. Thank you David for allowing us to spend time in this wonderful place.

Our second stay, certainly not our last, at Ash Lodge. A wonderful find. The lodge is spacious, very very clean. All facilities you could every need. The views are fantastic, whether sitting on the fabulous decking or even from the lounge, blinds drawn back, it’s like the outside inside. The peace and quiet is almost audible. Shropshire is a wonderful county, still lots to explore. Thankyou David

We had the most relaxing time at Ash Lodge. The lodge is one of the cleanest we have stayed in, with everything supplied you could need. Our favourite time was sitting either inside or out on the decking listening to the river and watching the skies for birds, my husband managed to meditate here so peacefully. The area is outstanding and we loved the local pub the landlady being a delight. Thankyou for supplying a beautiful place to stay and re charge. Wish you both well. Pauline and Fred

Thank you Denise and David for another very relaxed stay in your beautifully situated lodge with it's setting in an outstanding area overlooking the river and all of it's ever changing wild life. Regardless of the autumn weather we were able to sun ourselves on the deck or cosy down warm and comfortable on the lovely big sofas. As ever we found everything we needed to cook and eat in but also found lots of nice places within a short drive to eat out. We are now looking forward to our next visit.

It has everything you need and more from the comfortable sofas and beds, to the well equipped kitchen, plus a beautiful view from the floor to ceiling windows, across the river to the fields and hills beyond. Just returned from our 9th visit to Ash Lodge. As has been so frequently expressed by so many - it is a terrific place to stay with your every requirement met. David and Denise have thought of everything in terms of kitchen provision to entertainment. The place is so beautiful and peaceful and the sound of the river and waking to the sound of the beautiful birdsong, particularly Jenny Wren, make it such a tonic. Can't wait to return again. Thank you David and Denise for sharing this with us.

The location is stunning. In one sentence: this place - chalet & location - leaves you wanting nothing! The kitchen is equipped with everything that you would need - including a dishwasher (dishwasher tablets are provided!). There’s plenty of crockery/cutlery and pots and pans to cook a quick meal. The only dilemma is whether to sit by the river (2-3meters away from the chalet) and enjoy the views and sounds - or to go for a hike/bike ride in the stunning woods/trails that are all around you. One is surrounded by AONB… I would highly recommend this place - and will definitely return too!

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Ash Lodge from the 1st to 8th July. Again we had a magnificent holiday in lovely tranquil surroundings. Following from our visit last year I decided I should get a rod and rod license to make the most of the river Clun by the side of the lodge and managed to land a lovely Grayling, which returned to the river quite happily. Ash Lodge is a must for a relaxing holiday.

A beautiful relaxing break. The setting by the river is so peaceful and the lodge is very comfortable. It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We really appreciated the phone call on Friday to make sure that all was well. The land line phone was very thoughtful as the mobile signal was not good. An excellent choice of books videos, cds , puzzles and games. You seem to have thought of everything. Thank you very much. We would certainly like to return

Another wonderful stay in Ash Lodge. Back home, I’m already having withdrawal symptoms from the river and the tranquillity of the place. It is such a haven of beauty and a place to completely relax and unwind. The lodge has everything you could need and plenty of crockery and cutlery, which makes life easier. Very comfortable beds and quality bedding make for a great nights’ sleep. The views of the hills and the forests and as well as the river, and the proximity to great walking territory, make it a wonderful place to stay to explore an amazing county. Thank you, David and Denise, until next time.

What a stunning location we found ourselves in at Ash Lodge! The views were excellent and the lovely private positioning of the lodge made for a very restful holiday and it was as if we were the only ones there. The fittings and equipment in the lodge were also just excellent - all very well thought out for a really comfortable stay. We loved our visits to Clun and to Ludlow during our stay - and we enjoyed a lovely takeaway meal from The Crown too! Fully recommend a stay and we will be looking to book again next year. Many thanks David and Denise.

As everyone says - this is a really lovely place to stay, comfortable, clean and really well equipped inside, and as for the outside ... well, all I can say is, if we could have taken the river home with us, we would! We saw lots of different birds including excellent views of the kingfishers, but even without that, it's just perfect to sit outside and listen to the water chuckling. And the area has plenty of interesting places to visit, with Ludlow and its excellent restaurants within easy reach. Don't miss it!

I have just returned from my third visit to Ash Lodge and it seemed more perfect than ever! Although the wind was very cold, there was plenty of sun and the lodge was wonderfully warm, presumably because of good insulation and the large windows. No need to have the heating on! It was bliss to lie on the sofa watching the sun on the river and the abundance of birds, including red kites. As ever the lodge was very clean and so well equipped.... a joy to return to after wonderful walks in the immediate vicinity....and after a year of lockdowns!

We have just returned from our very first visit to Ash Lodge...and we have immediately booked our second for the autumn.
Ash Lodge offers peace and tranquillity in a beautiful location. Stunning hillside views, and a babbling river to lull you to sleep.
The standard of accommodation, facilities and cleanliness are all excellent. Spacious and light with decking and furniture overlooking the river. Everything you need is available in the Lodge.
The walks, straight from the Lodge into the hills, woods and forests, were spectacular. So lovely to see the countryside springing to life and the wildlife out and about in the spring sunshine.
Lots to explore in South Shropshire...but we so enjoyed the tranquility of the lodge and it’s surroundings, we spent most of time walking the hills and relaxing by the river.
Just perfect.

Our first stay at Ash Lodge was fantastic. A beautiful setting and a lodge with everything you needed. It was immaculately clean and we felt very safe from a Covid point of view. We saw Kingfishers, Long tailed tits, Robins, and quite a rare duck. We also heard otters. We were made very welcome and to receive a call from David to check that we had settled in OK was lovely. We will definitely be rebooking as the local area is beautiful. Thank you

A second relaxing visit to the lodge - our last review in the visitors book was to say that here was “a keeper” and we still feel the same.
On a slightly different tack I would like to comment on David’s integrity - we had originally booked for May but this had to be cancelled due to Covid. Unlike other holiday bookings we read about at the time David offered a refund, however, we chose to rebook for the week in September and will do so again in the future.

Just home from a fabulous week at Ash Lodge. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The position of the lodge means it is actually quite private, with most of the windows looking out to the river and beyond. Loved spotting the kingfishers whizzing to and fro. For most of the week we had sheep for neighbours in the field opposite. Then late one afternoon the sheep were herded out of the field by a woman on horseback.
Pre-ordered Sunday roast from the Crown in the village along with take away beer. So tasty and plenty of it. Michelle is a very cheerful landlady in trying times.
Also lots of long walks from the lodge into the hills with a pub lunch in Clun or Purslow before heading home to our lovely spot by the river.

We had another wonderful week at Ash Lodge, it’s such a beautiful and peaceful spot, and we enjoyed lots of walks from the doorstep and within a short drive. Our children, 6 & 4, love it here, playing in the river, watching the kingfishers and dippers, and of course a little drink at the Crown!

We stayed at ash lodge Monday to Friday and it was our first time staying. We found the lodge perfect with everything you could want catered for. The location is just superb for a relaxing stay. We fished the river and caught trout and grayling. We saw the kingfisher and plenty of red kites and also had a visit from the guinea fowl next door. The weather wasn’t brilliant but it didn’t hamper our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our boys age 9 and 14 enjoyed it also, just to sit and relax it’s just perfect, thank you.

This was the first time we've stayed lodge type accommodation and we weren't entirely sure what to expect. I am happy to say that the whole week was a complete success. Ash lodge was warm and very comfortable and well-appointed. I think that everything that we could possibly have needed was there (and probably more). The kitchen was well-equipped (even a steamer, which is not so common and well laid-out. In fact the whole lodge was well-designed to get maximum use of the space. The provision and free use of the telephone was another unusual but very useful and welcome feature. The supply of books and videos offered some interesting titles, but what I liked most were the binoculars and the bird book. There wasn't a lot of bird life (due to it being winter, I suppose) but it was fun looking out for what there was and trying to identify them - a bullfinch was the most interesting bird we saw.
So, to sum up, everything was really first class which contributed greatly to a very enjoyable stay.

Our recent three night mini-break with a couple of friends was enhanced by the super accomodation. Although the weather was wet and cold the lodge was lovely and warm and it was great to watch the river in full flow from the large windows. The lodge was extremely well equipped. The local pub, The Crown, serves excellent food (not on tues or wed) and has a pool table. It is easy to walk too down the lane, but take a torch. Thanks to the owners of the lodge for providing guests with all they need.

Our recent stay at Ash lodge was really relaxing. The lodge is in a lovely setting and it has everything you need. It was great to have enough crockery to be able to put a full dishwasher on rather than only having enough for 4 people hence not a full load. Lovely big bathroom. Good selection of books and DVD's, some board games too which certainly kept our evenings entertaining. Somewhere we would return to.

We have just had our first stay at Ash Lodge and booked our next visit while we were still there, in spite of having chosen an exceptionally wet week! Our 5th or 6th stay here. Gorgeous weather this time. The lodge is as good as ever, extremely well equipped.
A great base to visit beautiful little villages, larger towns, plus Hereford and Shrewsbury. Very relaxing site, woken up by bird and animal noises and the river, no traffic or people noise. The local pub is shut again, but the Hundred House is welcoming as are the two Clun pubs and the Newcastle on Clun pub.
